[SOLVED] Newbie - images keep moving, leaving parts missing!?

Hi, I'm new to Scribus - really loving the functionality but have a problem with images. I'm using a Mac laptop with Sequoia.

Because I want the text to wrap around my images, I've been edited the nodes (via the Shape edit menu). It all seemed to work perfectly. Then I noticed that whenever I save the file, close and later reopen it, the oulines of the shapes have moved leaving parts of the image inside hidden.

It's happening all the time and making Scribus un-useable for this current project :(

Please can anyone suggest any ways to stop this happening?
Thank you

Would you mind sharing a .sla file that shows the issue?

You don't need to include the actual image, the empty image frame is enough...

KP

Thank you, it would be great to know if there's a solution!

Here's an example of what's happening. The first image appears to be fine this time, the next two aren't as I left them.

Thanks again!

I think we will need a screen show showing how it looks before the save and then then a screenshot after a reopen.

What version of scribus are you using?

and to clarify, are the image frames moving? or the contents of the frame? or, are the edited nodes changing position?

It's Scribus 1.6.4

Here's 4 screenshots, showing two images before and after closing scribus.

It seems to enlarge the images. Sometimes it also enlarges the frame and moves nodes.

The images are PNG files with transparent backgrounds.

Thank you!

Can you try if it also happens with the attached file?

Yes the images are resizing for some reason. Is there any dpi information associated with the images? Where are the images from? are the they from a collection of clipart? or images that you are modifing?

I drew them to illustrate the story. They're saved at 300dpi.

I've converted some to jpgs to see if that would help, but the same thing happened.

Is anyone successfully using images, resizing them & editing nodes with Sequoia?

Thanks all.

sounds like you are editing the images after you close Scribus, then reopening the file with the newly saved image, which makes it no longer fit in the frame you started with

hi kp

You shouldn't edit the frame itself to manage the text flow. (at least not if the size of the image is set to fit the frame size...) You should edit the contour line (and use it for the text flow).

Problem with that is the text will get lost on the image. He is limiting the frame shape and wanting the text to hug the shape frame.
Try this and see if it solves the issue for you. Draw a shape, a rectangle will work for this, edit it as you did for the image frame. Then convert the shape to image frame and add your image, and add text wrap to flow around the frame. save, exit scribus and reload and see if the size has changed

ok. in this case he should click on 'free scaling' in the 'image properties' before editing the shape. otherwise scribus has to adapt the size to the new frame shape...

Thanks all.
Clicking 'free scaling' in 'image properties' has helped, thanks utnik. But it's unpredictable - quite often Scribus forgets I've clicked 'free scaling' for an image. I have to check every image before closing the file.
It seems very unpredictable and really twitchy - both in terms of remembering adjustments & property choices and also scrolling / clicking.
Is this normal for Scribus?
Thanks

...
i never had an issue with scribus's remebering of my choices and adjustments in almost twenty years of using the software.
i rather suspect you not to remember a click... (i'm sorry, but it is as it is...)
