long book

I work on Mac Sequoia and have downloaded Scribus 1.5.8. I am currently working on a (roughly) 350 page book with lots of images. The book is more or less ready on LibreOffice but I have important questions before starting the final version on Scribus.
I have read here and there that Scribus does not like long documents heavy with images and that it would be wiser to break the book into sections and join the pdfs later.
1. How about long documents with many images on Scribus?
2. How to create sections on Scribus?
3. What about page numbers? I know how to insert page numbers but, if my first section goes (for example) from page 1 to 44, how do I start the first page of the next section on 45?
4. How about creating a table of contents if the book is divided on sections?
Thanks for your answers

1. You should probably use Scribus 1.6, not 1.5. If read the internet correctly, Sequoia should support it.
2. Traditionally, it was advised not to create documents with more than 100 pages (and it was mostly already way too much). But, currently, multiple users with modern hardware report that they managed to create documents with around slightly more than 300 pages, so it should be ok now.
3. If you don't configure sections to interfere with the page numbering, you don't have to bother about them when inserting page number or creating a table of contents.
But, concerning the table of contents, you will not get something really usable, if you're sticking with the current stable version (the next version will have a much improved table of contents! Promised!): so you will probably want to create it manually anyway (or use this script: https://github.com/aoloe/scribus-script-repository/tree/master/table_of_contents).

All in all, I suggest you to try out the features you want to use before starting the creation of a 300 pages document and learn how to use Scribus with smaller documents.
There are numerous Youtube and text based tutorials you can use.
And if specific questions arise, you are welcome to ask them in here!

Thanks for your your prompt reply.
I have already watched a lot of tutorials and tried Scribus with small and large documents.
Upon your suggestion I am going to download a 1.6 version but there are many! Which one would you advise me to use?
If it doesn't work, can you tell me where I can find info about the creation of sections? Thanks
