Now the file will not open in Scribus 1.5.8. Is there any way to "backport" the file to 1.5.8?

hi apastuzak

without guarantee! – but as scribus 1.7.0 is not that different from 1.5.8 you could try it the easy way:
  • just open a copy of your .sla file in an editor.
  • change the second code line from '<SCRIBUSUTF8NEW Version="1.7.0.svn">' to '<SCRIBUSUTF8NEW Version="1.5.8">'
  • save the file
  • open it in scribus 1.5.8 and check if everything looks as it should...

there is a good chance that this works well.

good luck!

or open in 1.7 select all, copy, then open 1.5.8 open a new document and past, might need to add pages to make it the same number as the 1.7 version.

We haven't changed the format so I think for now you could copy the file and change the version manually and try to open it in 1.5.8z
