Can't find the AppImage to download. Most pages are very outdated.

Found it here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/scribus/files/scribus/1.6.4/scribus-1.6.4-linux-x86_64.AppImage/download

The link to the Debian install instructions points you to version 1.4.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, a.l.e, but I am almost through with moving all the frames to fit the new margins. It doesn't take so long, when I have the option activated that makes them "click" onto the margins.

I was told/read somewhere that what is in Master page is set as a background for page and cannot be modified. So it is designed for "static" part of page as watermark, or pagination.
If you want to add items to a page It was recommended to me using scrapbook. You can arrange items on a page, then select them all and use ether RMB->SendTo->ScrapBook or Item->SendTo->Scrapbook. It will appear in scrapbook palette and then you can select a page you want to insert items and doubleclick on the scrapbook item and it will be inserted to page at the original position.
In case you want to have whole document prepared as a template, I believe just adding frames to pages instead to master page and save the document as a template will do the trick in your case.

Beginner Talk / Scribus 1.6.4 Using Temp...
Last post by sswcharlie - June 03, 2025, 08:32:09 AM
Hi
I have a template all set up the way I want.  Do I understand how it is meant to be used.  I have gone 'End Edit', then: Page:  Apply Master to all pages (20), save as template.  Screen returns to original 20 pp document with page numbering etc.  However in the original document it has all the boxes as per the master, but I cannot open or get a dialog with any of them, I can insert a new box ok and edit no problem.
Want I want to do is:  at any time I can select a template and open and all the working empty boxes are there already for data and photos to be inserted.  Save the template as a document as a working document.
When I open the new document I cannot access the existing boxes, but I can put new boxes in and place data etc.
Why are the existing boxes not able to be used.

by e-book do you mean a pdf that is meant to be read on a screen?

on the one side, it's often not a problem to have the same inner and outer margins as for print.

on the other side, scribus cannot change the margins and move the items according to them.
but if you're goal is to keep the same page width, i might have a solution for you: a script that moves each item to the right or to the left depending the item being on a left or right page.

i have this script

https://github.com/aoloe/scribus-script-repository/blob/master/move-page-items/move-page-items.py

and i can easily adapt it for double page layouts.

just raise a hand if you need it...

Thanks AdmFubar - that helps a lot. It does leave all the text and image frames unaligned, but it is not such a big job to move them manually.

change the master pages margins and reapply, that should work in theory. you might use a few less pages this way too, check the end and see if there are any blank pages.

we will need a little more information. How about posting a style panel before and after so we can see what settings are changed or not.

Beginner Talk / changing margins
Last post by occamsrazor - June 02, 2025, 07:35:20 PM
I have a 262-page book made on Scribus (1.6.4) with different left and right page margins for printing, but I would now need margins suitable for an e-book, meaning they should be symmetrical, so that the text doesn't shift sideways during scrolling in a fixed layout like pdf.

The tex frames should be otherwise identical, so the e-book looks identical to the print version.

Is there a way to avoid doing it all again from scratch?

I just started to explore Scribus and created some styles. When I click apply, all changes in a style take effect except the letter font and letter size.
What am I doing wrong?
