General Discussion / Screenshot on the home page
Last post by cedricr - April 14, 2026, 05:07:35 PM
Hello!

I came to see the homepage earlier today, after reading the announcement about the new version in a post on Mastodon by David Revoy, a webcomic creator working with Krita and Scribus.

I've tried Scribus a few years ago, and was curious to see how it had evolved since, but I was unable to find a screenshot of the app, at least in the first few pages I tried.

A few hours later someone asked David if he had a screenshot of him working in Scribus, and David shared those, under a CC-BY licence

I commented that it would be great to have them on https :// scribus . us, and David okay'ed the idea

What do you think ?

Text and Typography / Re: Select text in linked text...

Thanks so much, utnik! Surely this problem will be fixed soon. For now, I'll follow your advice about using text editor and I'm looking forward to trying the new version 1.7.3. I also wanted to let you know that I recently discovered a sort of workaround: selecting the first or last part of the text in one text box and then pressing Shift + left or right arrow key you can extend the selection to the other linked text box. It's not perfect, but it might be useful to someone.

General Discussion / Re: Line Tool Options
Last post by utnik - April 14, 2026, 12:15:50 AM
hi admfubar

this is used to define custom line types. if you select a line and set the type to 'custom' the ruler and the two fields will show up.

Thank you everybody for the fast answer.  It works. The only thing I had forgotten was to switch to "preview" mode, where the table appears with no visble lines between rows and columns, while in the "edit" mode the lines are still there !!

hi admfubar

i don't know what you're doing. i don't change the line width if i don't need a line. keeping it at one point and changing the color to 'none' works.

ok found it again... however in 1.6, and 1.7.1 it still suffers from the 1 point line width issue. (the color (none) isnt applied if the the line width is 1 point)

Also, anyone notice something odd about this table in the attached image?

tables really need some love in scribus.. I'm sure the developers are working on the issue..

tables in scribus show still a bit strange things. but you can hide the lines in two steps:
  • select the table (with a single click), then go to 'table properties' (f3) → 'borders', select the 'solid line' and set the line color to 'none'. (this will hide the border on the left side and at he bottom of the table.)

  • double click in a cell, then select all the cells and go to 'table properties' → 'borders' again, this time changing the color of the 'solid line' will affect the rest of the lines.

first bullet point; in what version of scribus is this set of options available? i'm looking for this in 1.7.1 and dont see borders option.

second bullet; same question as above...
