Thanks for the reply.
The new version of Scribus is 1.5.8 and the old version was 1.5.5.
I had used the upgrade option from the update manager in Xubuntu.
Then I installed a completely new Ubuntu 22.04.1 on my other computer and it doesn't work there either. It also uses the 1.5.8 version of Scribus.
So I installed Xubuntu 20.04.5 on my other computer and it works using Scribus 1.5.5.

I am guessing the problem is with the import plugin or the export image plugin in 1.5.8.
what version of scribus? was this a clean install? or a in-place update?
Upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 now files save as image greyed out.
I am trying to work on a file created on Ubuntu 20? . I can open the file and make changes etc but when I attempt to save as an image the option is greyed out.
PDF export works.

Sorry, I forgot to say it for a CLI use, so I can't manually put the cursor at the position in a text frame where I want to include the image.

For copy paste, there is:

Definition of "pasteObjects" says it call "slotEditPaste" that will call what is necessary to create an inline frame, I think, but the cursor need to be in a text frame.

Inserttext is a good exemple cause it insert text at a position but it manipulate directly "string" inside the text box so I can't take inspiration from this function.

What I'm searching is I think an equivalent of setEditMode() mentioned here with position parameter for text frame :

by the looks of things, you want to apply formatting to the contents of the table. Once you select a table "cell" you would apply text styles , the text properties window is available after clicking the cell. if you need to apply the formatting to a lot of cells you may need to edit the .sla directly possibly doing a search and replace to add the needed style.i dont see an easy clear-cut way of doing so directly in scribus, there might be one but it is getting late here i'm too tired to look for it now. will check this route in the morning.

hi peter

you're right. scribus' tables still lack a good portion of features.
to improve the usability it should be possible to apply a paragraph style to a table style and either to control the vertical alignment direct in the table style, or – maybe even better – to make this option available in the paragraph style.
it might be worth to add a feature request here.

Beginner Talk / Style - vertically align text in table cell

Good morning,
I am new to Scribus and beginning to understand the productivity benefits of using Styles.
However, I am unable to find under the Table Style how to vertically align text in table cells.
I can do it 'manually' using the panel Text Properties->Columns & Text Distances->Vertical Alignment->(Top/Middle/Bottom).
Whilst I can change the alignment from Top to Middle this way, I have hundreds of cells to change.
Any advice on doing this in Styles will be much appreciated.
Thanking you in advance of your support.
Cheers Peter

In the UI I think the only way is to paste it, are there not Python options to cut/copy and paste?

I want to insert inline image in text frame with python. I searched in APi and source but I think there is not yet a function for that.
I'm right?
