I just tested it and it worked! Thank you so much! Unfortunately only the one I edited changed, so I will have to do the others manually, but that is so much better than floundering around in the dark. Thanks again!

Quote from: AdmFubar on Today at 03:55:14 AMit is a limitation of windows, (or any os for that matter). scribus is using windows file code. (most likely.)

Standard hard drive? (spinning rust)  or and ssd? will make a difference, for the most part.
If this is such a problem for W10, then why do I not see this issue with any other applications running in windows 10?
The folder/directory being used is my 'mydocuments' folder on a relatively fast 2 year old hard drive that is half empty.  I open files from that drive in nearly every application but none have this issue.
For example: excel, photoshop, reaper, audacity, handbrake, avidemux, etc.
Therefore, it appears to me to be the way that Scribus is using the W10 file access.
(Obviously, I can work around the problem easily now that I understand it. ;^)

Layout Issues / Re: Help with text spacing / r...

are the images and the frames the same size? Meaning the image fills the frame and the frame isnt being used to mask the image?

If so... double click the image, there should be a blue circle with and crosshair shown. :)Select the image properties window, and adjust the dpi, you will need to shrink it a lil so the image will have some space around it. :)

Hopefully this will work for your layout.

You will need to adjust the image in the frame to recenter or move left, right. up, down as needed.

This will only work for a plain frame.

There is a lil trick to doing this!  Double click the input field *, you should get a window that opens with the attributes for editing the box. :)

now for the weird part.. YMMV on this...

Once I edited one box they all became invisible.. which is a nice surprise as editing 106 of thise manually would be tedious

One additional note... i did  this in 1.7

*You can also single click the frame to select, the right click, in the popup menu look for PDF Properties, then Field Properties,

Layout Issues / Help with text spacing / runar...
Last post by pstjmack - Today at 09:42:31 AM
Apologies for asking for help on such a basic topic, but I've been beating my head against it for weeks and going through the documentation, without finding a solution.

I have a two-column document in process with a number of text and image frames. I am trying to create a consistent space around the frames with text flow, so that the surrounding text does not come too close to the borders of the frames. This is not a complex layout matter - the frames are either one or two columns wide, and there are no fancy image shapes for the main body text to wrap around.

How can I do this? Where is the setting? In "Shape"? Is there some generic text and image frame style to do this? Is the correct term for this "runaround" - or should I be looking for something else?

The document is basically complete aside from this annoying niggle. Please help! Thanks!

Here it is, along with the Scribus file. I had to add them to .zip files since they were just too big to attach on their own.

When I try that, the file opens as a regular PDF, with neither the fillable sections nor the border boxes showing.

I think the issue might be due to the number of files (almost 9000) in the directory/folder
where the .sla file is stored.
I saved the .sla to the parent directory (root of the hard drive) and it opens very quickly.
The file open window also stalls when I tell it to display that large directory.
(As I type this, I am waiting for Scribus to respond/open the 61K .sla file in that large
directory folder. It's been over 5 minutes and the title bar of the window displays
"Scribus 1.6.4 (Not Responding.")

Perhaps there is an issue with how Scribus accesses the files system in Windows 10?
