depending on the total pages in the magazine you may run into a performance issue with large .sla files. Appending the sections as a finished pdfs, into one will be much easier.

Scripts and Plugins / Looking for Advice on Using im...
Last post by Derek - Today at 01:00:44 PM
I'm writing a script to allow me to append sections of a magazine to build a complete magazine (which then goes through final editing (of course).

As there does not appear to be a simple way to append complete sla files I am using importPage to import each page separately. I'm having some difficulties with this:

1) I haven't found an easy way to specify that I want to import all pages. I'm preprocessing each section to get the number of pages in that section, then using the stored number of pages to build the pageList parameter (eg {1, 2, 3, 4}) for importPage. Have I missed something?

2) Whenever importPage creates a page, it creates an empty text frame. This gets in the way for subsequent editing. This is also a problem with newPage - may be related. Can I stop this (possibly I've missed a setting somewhere)?

3) importPage loses the linkage between linked text frames. This needs to be manually recreated to restore the finished page. Any ideas for retaining the linkage?

Quoteit could be extended to also allow applying direct formatting
Nice idea.

QuoteHaving C&P panels that can be undocked and fulling opened for ease of access would benefit workflow.
Maybe it makes sense to split such a huge content panel into small panels. But this change would require a good concept, especially in comparison to the other content modes of the content panel.

Just an update from my side. The former font feature section has been reworked. On hover of an option, you can see a preview of what it is doing.

time will (maybe) tell.
Would be nice to be able to do this as and "eyedropper" action. to be able to pick up the styles from a formatted section and then apply them as needed.

I do not remember exactly which number, but the version in the repos is very ancient. Please download the AppImage of 1.6.2, make it executable and run. It should work. I am using it quite often just on the Mint 22.
Best regards, S.

Linux / Scribus Does Not Start
Last post by SirMix - October 03, 2024, 04:30:16 AM
On Linux Mint 22 I installed Scribus by package manager.
When I try to start Scribus in the console I get the error:
scribus: symbol lookup error: /lib/libGraphicsMagick-Q16.so.3: undefined symbol: heif_check_filetype

I do not know how to solve this.

it would depend on how many options are available in each panel. Character and Paragraph styles I think would be used more often than text columns. Having C&P panels that can be undocked and fulling opened for ease of access would benefit workflow.
