It will be fine, if the user could customize Toolbars according to the personal taste and needs.
Is there any possibility?

The contour line is essentially the extra polygon you create, but it is part of the image frame (and moves with it) rather than being a separate object.

depending on the size of the font used and the size of the image, getting a nice even shape would be tedious if there is a lot of images.

I came up with another method that will help, especially if using a complex shape.
Select one the polygon shapes and place it on the page, adjust the size as needed.
Then copy the polygon and paste it onto the page. Resize on of the polygons, make it a little larger and then select the smaller poly, right click and convert to an image frame. add the image you want to that frame. Then select both shapes and align centered hor and ver. you should see you image frame inside the other poly shape with at bit of a border spacing around it.
You can then select the text wrapping type you need for the object.

you can select the image frame and the poly around it and set the stroke color to none.
I left the stoke visible to better see what i had done.

Beginner Talk / Re: Scribus not opening fully

Offhand, no. I've not used windows in over 5 years. (mostly at work) and I'd be fumbling around trying to guess where and under what name exactly scribus is stored under.

what version of windows are you using?

Quote from: AdmFubar on Today at 12:02:13 AMtry this;

Create a shortcut to executable, right click it and open properties, move your cursor to text field labeled Target: and at the very end add -fullscreen. The full line should look like this:

pathto\scribus.exe -fullscreen
the path portion will be what drive and directory that scribus is installed in. is should pre-filled and you will just need to add the -fullscreen portion

Thank you... however, I get a dialog box stating that the name isn't valid. Any ideas?

Quote from: PelesDaughter on July 01, 2025, 12:01:30 AMAre you suggesting that I rename the Scribus folder to something else?

yes, something like "Scribus 1.6.4 backup".

then scribus will recreate "Scribus 1.6.4" for you.

if you're not happy with the result, you can always delete the newly created folder (if any has been created) and rename the old one back to "Scribus 1.6.4"

(of course, first close scribus...)

Interestingly enough, I performed the recommended steps and while the program initially appeared to "reset" by prompting me to choose the settings for a new document or open a new one, upon taking both pathways the same problem persists :/

Quote from: a.l.e on July 04, 2025, 07:21:13 AMScribus does not use the native Windows dialogs.

It's probably a Qt dialog with customizations for the previews (Qt being the framework used for the UI).

If the reason is indeed "too many files", then there is not much Scribus can do differently, except if the issue is with the preview...

Scribus appears to open files fine when the target file is in a folder/directory with only a few files.
Qt may be the issue. I can work around it, but I can't gauge whether this issue is worth further work
by the development team.

Thanks for your help.

Beginner Talk / resizing page to left
Last post by lemonphenomenon - July 05, 2025, 12:02:11 AM
I have a page for the front cover of a book. I am now told I need to expand it to include the spine and the back cover. I can resize the page to the necessary width, but when I do so the page expands to the right of the original artwork. I need it to expand it to the left, so that the whole thing reads (going left to right) back cover, then spine, then front cover. Is there any way of doing that?

After adding the extra width I reset the ruler origin so that the new left hand edge was at 0. Unfortunately that didn't work for the guides and grid. The grid worked only on the original part of the page and the guides not at all despite being checked to show.

hi giovanni

it looks as if either the .sla file or the .pdf files have been moved to another place. (or the path changed due to a dynamic volume...)
