Saving changes

Hi everybody,
I a former version of Scribus it seems to me that, after a change or a correction done to the contents of a page, there was a button that saved the change(s) and got the user directly to the normal display of the document. Now it seems that one has first to close the edition window, which pops up a dialog asking if the new state has to be saved, which necessitates another click. The ancient procedure was more simple and quick, what's the reason of having changed the procedure ? I used to prefer the former manner.
Thank you in advance
Regards
Pierre

what you are describing is a bit vague. The closest that description resembles is the story editor, for text. is this what you are asking about?

Hi !
My copy of Scribus is in French. When I click on a text frame (if this name corresponds to anything in the English version !) I get a dialogue, the 4th item of it is "Editer le texte dans l'éditeur..."; I suppose that it fits with the "story editor" you refer to. By clicking on the line "Editer le texte dans l'éditeur" one can type a new text if the frame is empty, add something to an existing text (if any) or correct the existing text and in each of these 3 cases you must close the "story editor" but then you get the dialog "Save" - or not - the corresponding text or story. The difference in English between text and story isn't evident for me. In French we call text any arrangement of characters making a sense an story a kind of tale with a beginning, a development and an end. Since you write "...is the story editor, for text" I understand that story and text are more or less the same thing. I hope that things now are less vague. Thank you for your help. Regards. Pierre

With modern versions of Scribus, you're not really supposed to use the Story Editor (or Éditeur...), except when you really need it (but those are rare case nowadays).

Try to get used to the Properties and Content palette.
At the end, you will probably be more productive as with the Story Editor.

Good evening a.l.e,
Thank you for the information but I need an explanation. On my 1.6.4 version en French I don't see either Propriétés (Properties) nor Contenu (Content) palette. Can you tell me under what menu each of the them can be found ? Thank you in advance.
Regards.
Pierre
