Scribus not opening fully

Hi folks,

Could anyone help with this? I am operating Scribus, which used to work just fine, but lately it has not been opening fully. It loads, showing the "splash image" and option to recover a file, but then it won't expand when I click on the icon on the task bar like one does when opening an already open program (sorry for my lack of tech lingo). I have tried opening files from File Explorer, and the same thing happens. I tried properly uninstalling the program and re-downloading the most recent version and installing it again, to no avail.

Image shows as far as I can get.

Any ideas?

re-installing the same version of scribus is almost never a solution.

it looks like that the scribus gets opened off screen.

have you changed the monitor? is it a laptop and you attach external monitors from time to time?

what you can try, is to let scribus recreate its settings.

you can try to do so by renaming C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Scribus\

Thanks for your response. It is a laptop but I have never attached an external monitor to it.

I tried looking for that pathway but there is no Appdata folder inside my username folder. However, there is inside of Program Files, two folders, one with the name of each version that I have had installed (for example, C:\Program Files\Scribus 1.6.4). Are you suggesting that I rename the Scribus folder to something else?

yes, something like "Scribus 1.6.4 backup".

then scribus will recreate "Scribus 1.6.4" for you.

if you're not happy with the result, you can always delete the newly created folder (if any has been created) and rename the old one back to "Scribus 1.6.4"

(of course, first close scribus...)
