import all images from a Word or Open Office doc?

Can I import all the images from a Word file in one hit?
It will be a struggle to import all 50 one by one!
I did try adding an image box on the master page so I get boxes in place as a start. But then I can't import into that on the actual pages.
I'm a former QuarkXPress professional user and instructor so know QXP inside out even after 20 years of not using it - that's so you know my knowledge base!
Is there a command to push text into the next column or next page if I have a multi column text box?
Thanks

I think you would have to do some rebuilding, might be possible to save your doc as a .pdf then open in Scribus, you then would only want to replace the text via cut and paste

Thanks - does it need 1.5 for this? Open PDF failed with 1.4.8
>> OK - works great with 1.5
