The number of sub forums

(1/1)

Nermander:
My general opinion is that sub-forums should initially be kept at a minimum, and then new forums can be created as the need arises (i.e. when some kinds of topics takes to much place in other forums).

Under the Scribus heading I think it initially would be sufficient with General and maybe the Installation and setup forums.

But maybe I'm the only one with that opinion?

When I first arrived here my initial reaction was that there were too many categories.

I also thought that it would be nice to have a sticky topic at the beginning of some of the categories with a how-to. Yes I know the how-tos are already on the wiki, but if the subject is covered in more than one location it makes it less likely that newcomers will miss it. Not every category needs a how-to. Things that should be covered are the subjects that are perennial questions on the e-list. I am thinking of things like what master pages are for and why you can't edit master page objects while on a document page.

If the forum becomes really active, I think it will be very useful to have all the categories currently listed. In fact, I would probably split the "Raster and Vector Graphics" in two: "Vector Graphics" and "Images" as I think the kinds of problems and discussions are usually quite different for these two.

Congratulations to the people who put this together. It looks very attractive and so far, it seems easy to use.

Let's give it some time. If some of the boards remain unused they can be easily removed.
