Gemy's "Scribus 1.3.5: Beginner's Guide"- Still accurate?
« on: March 29, 2015, 09:53:11 am »
Hello the forum,

I am a TOTAL beginner with Scribus, and went looking for books to teach me the program.  Gemy's book seems to be the best bet, as it is apparently laid out in tutorial-fashion, rather than being a large reference text like the Shafer/Pittman book.

My question is, does it still apply to Scribus 1.4.5, or has too much changed?

Jim

I am not replying on your book-related question. But if you want to use Scribus, then ignore all first. Focus on Paragraph Style and how to use it with yout text layout. Trust me, it works. Saves much times.

I like gemy's books...

I should have look at that one... It' on the shelf :-)

Done

- don't use the story editor
- don't print from scribus. Produce PDFs
- for preview there is a button in the status bar. Don't use the one in the file menu

The rest seems to rather match the state of 1.4

Have a god lecture!

Btw, another option is the flossmanual: http://en.flossmanuals.net/scribus-2/
Gemy and me also involved... Translated by Pittman... :-)

I knew there was flossmanuals. But I didn't know there was a great comprehensive tutorial about Scribus there. I have bookmarked it. Thank you.
