JPEG / CMNJ ?
« on: July 27, 2014, 03:14:22 pm »
Hello,

I'm working on the covert art for a music CD, and I've decided to try Scribus out for this, for the first time. I'm not very familiar with the world of printing either...

The printer requests PDF X-1a (I believe this is PDF 1.3) or JPEG with CMNJ color mode at 300dpi.

I've created my visuals with images (in RGB mode), text and stuff, but now I realize that I cannot provide PDFs because I use transparency in various places (e.g. text frames with 70% opacity). So I thought I would export as JPEG. But my question is that, although I can see how you set the resolution in the export dialog, I cannot figure out whether my JPEG will be in CMNJ. Does that even make sense ?

Thanks.

Export as jpeg is only in RGB mode.
If You want CMYK/CMNJ use pdf 1.4 or 1,5 with transparency and next convert Your file in jpeg/tiff

convert it in photoshop or in ghostscript
gs \
  -sOutputFile = your.tiff \
  -sDEVICE=tiff32nc -dNOPAUSE -r300x300 -dGraphicAlphaBits=4 -dTextAlphaBits=4 \
   your.pdf
