Yes, I'm one of the very few people who uses the Spiral Tool!
(I'm typesetting a friend's upcoming sci-fi noir novella in which springs play a major role, and the Spiral tool provides THE PERFECT graphical element. I'm using it as a section divider sigil. Looks great!)
BUT something has gone wrong. At first, I could change the Spiral tool's settings and the next time I used the tool it would indeed reflect the changes. Now when I change the settings (Start Angle, End Angle, Factor), a new drawn spiral only reflects the previous settings---it's stuck drawing a spiral that starts at the bottom and winds outward & clockwise 4.25X, ending on the left side.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. I just discovered that although my new settings have been retaining in the preferences for Spiral (even after restart of the app), I can create NEW DOCUMENT and the new settings are effective there. Just not in any existing document (even though the new settings still show in the Preferences.)
I suppose I could just toss some preferences file associated with the old document in question, but I have no idea where to find/how to do that. (The fact that the settings for the tool are retaining my update, but not drawing according to the update in existing documents, is the bug I'm reporting.)
FYI, I'm using Scribus 1.5.8 on a MBP 2015 under Monterey.
Have you tried using the spiral tool in inkscape, and then importing that spiral??
Please submit a sample file in a bug on bugs.scribus.net with a description on how to recreate the issue and we can take a look.
hi olderthanthat
in scribus you have settings under ,preferences' which affect new documents and under ,file' → ,document setup' for the actual document. there may be no bug at all. if you change the settings for the spiral tool in the ,document setup', it may work as expected.
