Title: Bad SVG support
Post by: MrHelpMe on May 27, 2026, 12:13:59 PM
I have been using Scribus for years, but I repeatedly encounter the problem of complex SVG graphics being displayed incorrectly. This type of error frequently arises with shading or color gradients. Unfortunately, I cannot simply edit and resave the SVGs in other programs in the hope that they will then display correctly in Scribus.

This question has surely been asked before, but apparently, there is no solution for it.

See as example the relative simple SVG attached. It is always ok but in Scribus terrible.

Please create a bug on bugs.scribus.net. Include screenshots of the file in the original editor and in Scribus and we can evaluate if it's an SVG version thing, Scribus missing support for something etc. SVG support was written more than a decade ago with some changes since. There are some settings in tools like Inkscape to save in older versions of SVG that help, especially if removing custom stuff.

Well I edited the the image in Inkscape and removed the odd outlines in the image. Viewing in x-ray mode showed where the odd outlines were, deleted and re-saved, Oddly this clip are was created in Inkscape. Where did you get it from? i'd like to investigate it further.
