Title: Black Box
Post by: pyro on April 03, 2026, 07:20:24 AM
Hello Scribus Support Community,

I 'm having an issue with Scribus 1.6.2 on a up to date Windows 10 system.

I have an image within that image is black text, I have previously used this method
To save the image for printing purposes. Using Inkscape I changed the colour of the image with the black text, saved it to desktop as a SVG file, opened Scribus then opened file.

The issue is that when I open this image the black text has a black box covering the text, I can move the box but the text moves with it, I can click on the box and a dotted line appears around it, I can right click on the box to bring up the properties box but the colours tab is greyed out and I cannot change any settings there.

I have checked the document properties and they all seem right with text and stroke set to None, I will try to attach some screen shots for your perusal. Any help would be most appreciated thank you.

Let me see if i have this correct, You have and image that is comprised of text? and when you import into scribus the image is solid black? If this is the case, rather that dealing  with another image, why not create a text box and add the text there, and adjust as needed?

Thank you for trying to answer, but that does not give me an answer to my question, and I don't understand what you are talking about, I don't want to add a text box, no need to.

Would you mind attaching a sample SVG that produces the issue on your computer?

better yet, post the actual file for us to examine, might need to do a collect for output and zip the directory so we have everything that comprises the document.

You've uploaded the screenshots with a view of the result.

The one thing that could help is an SVG file that we can try to load and see if the issue also happens on our computers.
