Title: Outline text without the text
Post by: PhilipL on February 10, 2026, 03:38:38 PM
Looking to do something like this. Easy in LibreOffice but can't work out how to do it in Scribus. And if it is possible, how can you change the width of lines?

hi philip

try 'text properties' → 'colours & effects' → 'outline' (the second icon from the right side). then you need to set the text color to 'none' and the text stroke as you need it.
to change the width of the outline press the 'outline' button for a second or two...

...in scribus 1.7.x it's 'text properties' → 'typography' → 'outline'. the rest is the same as in the stable versions.

Thanks. Works well.

Would have posted my thanks yesterday by the security system doesn't think there are 6 letters in Scribus.

... Of course, there are also four letters in Scribus...

And while I must agree that six is technically a valid answer to the question, if the question was about the length of the word Scribus, the "correct" answer was probably not six.
(I hope, I'm not helping a bot looking for the solution : - )

Well, I must be pretty thick. Can't work out how Scribus does not have 6 letters. Had to wait for a different question to reply.
