Title: Should I export PNGs with Drop shadows or use the Picture frame Drop shadows?
Post by: IanicM on December 04, 2025, 03:52:50 PM
I am preparing a found document book and it will be featuring lost letters. For effect, I've been adding the Picture Frame Drop Shadows on each of them.
I usually set it like :

Shade 40%
Opacity 40%

Often, I group the text + logo + paper image and apply the Drop shadow to the group.

But now I'm starting to wonder if I should simply have the drop shadow part of the letter.png instead.

Any advice? I plan to print this book as a hardcover.

Using scribus for the shadows, gives you the option to remove them easily. While having them as part of the image means having two sets of images available should you want a the images without. and a few more steps to swap them out to revert to shadowless images.

Thanks for your insight.
Now I'm wondering about performance and export. I guess I'll learn as I go.
