Title: Setting default dictionary
Post by: nathbeadle on February 26, 2016, 07:53:18 PM
Hey Everyone

I'm wondering if anyone has the know-how for setting a default dictionary. When I spell check it goes to English UK. So then I select English US or Canadian but when I click to the next word it defaults back to English UK! And when I'm done spell-check it changes the dictionary to Germany!

Obviously I could uninstall all the dictionary files but the one I want, but there has to be a correct way to do this. Thanks!

Not sure I understand the problem but if I understand correctly the spell checker uses language of the text itself: see the language for the actual text in 'Text Properties' window. I would prefer changing the languag for the text via a character style that is used for the text.

Yes, the language is a property of styles. It can be set both for paragraph styles and character styles (the latter is useful for mixed languages in the same paragraph).
