Don't you need a tab for where you want the number to be? I guess the tab is outside the frame?

Hi, for some reason the index page number is below the dots and not at the end. I don't know how to make the number stay on the right edge of the page. I'm uploading an image to try to explain it.

Another question, how can I make the index continue on the next page? The index is too long for that page and not everything is shown.

Quote from: a.l.e on March 03, 2025, 09:50:20 PMJean just committed a patch that might solve your issue:

0017436: Avoid custom font encodings when embedding TTF fonts in PDF
https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=17436

That's great to hear, and my thanks to all.

Quote from: a.l.e on March 03, 2025, 09:50:20 PMSadly, it won't be easy to find out if this change will improve things with Blurb,

Regardless, it's already a step toward resolving the issue, and all the best voyages start with one step.

I'm hanging on to my pipe dream of other Scribus/Blurb users sounding in to round out the available information!

Again, thanks, and cheers.

now i'm wondering, what are the dimensions of the document  you are creating, and what size of the font are you using? I typically start out with a standard sized sheet of paper and smaller sized font, and alter the text size as needed.

if you have very big text, you need to take care about the first line offset and, more generally, about the line height:

it's easy to have a text that does not fit in the frame because there is space above or below the text that does not fit.

(no idea about the captchas (my account is probably above all new user limits...) but concerning the dumb question: one gets used at getting asked dumb questions...)

Quote from: PaulL on March 08, 2025, 08:39:56 PMHere's what I am doing:  I click on the T icon and create a text frame where I want it.  I then click on the T in a box, and a blinking insertion bar appears in the top left corner of the text frame.  I start typing, and nothing happens.
What "T" in what box are you clicking on? Once you create a text frame, it should be the selected object in your document, the frame will be the selected object color and have handles to change the size of the text frame. If not you will need to select it again. If you double click the the text frame the handles should disappear and you can now enter text directly.

I can't see your toolbar, of course, but on mine there are three 'T' icons.  The first is between the arrow (select tool) and the little picture (image frame tool), and the tool tip reads, "Text Frame (T)".  The second 'T' icon is to the right of the magnifying glass, and its tool tip reads, "Edit Contents of Frame (E)."  And right next to that icon is another T with a symbol next to it, the tool tip for which reads, "Edit Text with Story Editor (Ctrl+T)."  I hope that helps.

As I mentioned, not one of these options results in visible text.  The post before yours probably has the right of things:  I want text that is too high for Scribus to handle.  This is for a hymn board in a church, and the letters and numbers need to be tall enough for people to see in the back of the church.

This is something InDesign could handle, but I am running Linux.  I guess Scribus is just not up to the job, so I will be uninstalling it and looking for a better tool.

P.S.--Having to enter verification letters, fill out a captcha, and answer a dumb question is getting awfully tedious, and this is only my third post.  Sayonara to all.

Quote from: MrB on March 08, 2025, 11:14:33 PMSounds like the size or colour of the text is set so you cannot see it. Check settings on the Content Properties window.

Well, you may be on to something.  I have the font size at 192, because I want 3" tall letters (I'm trying to make signs for the hymn-board in a church) and was having trouble placing the words correctly in LibreOffice Writer.   What baffles me is that everything worked the first time, and I could even print.  Now, nothing is working.  I guess Scribus is just not the right tool.  I'll uninstall it and look for something else.

Since you did some steps to check that it's indeed a bug, filling a ticket in the bug tracker was the right thing to do

well done!

you already found the Matrix chat, so you're for sure on the good track : - )
