I don't think that in the current Scribus version there is a better way to create an index.

Something might be coming with the next release.
Work has been done, but I had no chance to test it yet.

I did some more experimenting and I figured out the basics.  Here's the answer in case anyone else is looking for the same thing:

1. Click the Link Annotation button in the PDF Tools section of the toolbar.
2. Click and drag to create a box around where you want the link to be.
3. Double click on the box to open up the Annotation Properties dialog.  The Type should already be set to Link, so leave it there.  Under Destination, enter the page number and coordinates for your target.
4. If you turn on Preview Mode you can test your link to make sure that it takes you to the right place.

---------------

Now that I've got that down, can anyone tell me if there's an easier way to create an index that automatically links back to the main text, or do I have to just manually create links for every index entry?

Please forgive me if this is already answered somewhere, I haven't been able to find it...

For the document that I am working on, my goal for the end product is to have a PDF where some of the text links to other parts of the same document (e.g. if I write "see p25," you click and it jumps to the relevant section of page 25).  The closest I've been able to find is how to embed links to a URL somewhere outside of the document, but I don't need that.  How can I create links within the document itself?

Using version 1.6.1 if that makes a difference here.

Nice, will there be an option to switch between compact and full?

Hi all,

I started to redesign the text properties panel.
Especially for the text color buttons, I tried a new approach with an icon. What do you think about it?

Quote from: Worldy on September 11, 2024, 08:19:10 PMHello everyone! I have use Scribus on Ubuntu successfully for self publishing books, notebooks and calendars. I am looking to create diaries for this 2025, 1 page per day, any tutorial or guidance? 🤔 Thank you
We nee d a bit of clarification, are you creating a blank diary as a print version to be filled in. Or are you thinking about using scribus  to write  a diary "on the fly"?

I don't know anything for sure, but my first guess is that maybe you need a newer Qt library? (At least the Q suggests to me it is a Qt issue, and the error message indicates a declaration i missing.)

(I have never compiler Scribus myself, I just thought that since nobody else has answered I'd try to give you some input.)
