Windows / Re: Toolbar icon size
Last post by Dynamo - September 21, 2023, 06:53:06 PM
Allegedly you can right click them and select them to be a different size, according to the dev who closed all the bug reports about it. Except you can't! lolz. not on windows 10.

The option is already available in scribus. It is in the content properties window. Select a text box on a page, in the Text Properties (content properties)  there is a entry that allows setting the smallest word, consecutive hyphenations, and the hyphenation character.

Installation and Setup / Toolbar icons still tiny (sinc...

I found an old post on this with people asking for updates, but none were given. A series of bug reports were made around 2016 and the response from a developer (Kunda?) was regarding right clicking the icons, and it giving options to change icon size. It was suggested (in error) that this bug was fixed. It was not.

The gif used to demonstrate this was from another app (gimp?) and it is ***********NOT************* possible to change the size of the icons in Scribus on Windows 10 by right clicking them. If I do this, it gives me an option to show or hide sections of icons (File, Edit, Tools, PDF Tools).

There seems to be no point in filing a bug report, as lots have before and they are all closed in error.

This makes Scribus unusable. This is excellent news for commercial DTP editors, as there seems to be absolutely no free alternative.

The other option is to allow Windows 10 to scale the program automatically - this makes ***all*** text blurry, absolutely not the vibe for DTP, also unusable.

I enclose pictures of Scribus's unusable teeny tiny icons.

This website itself I am currently viewing with 133% zoom, because the text is teeny tiny. Is Scribus aiming to cause eyesight loss from squinting?

i know this from libreOffice. but i don't think scribus offers those settings so far.
you could file it as a 'feature request' here.

Text and Typography / hyphenation limit 5 letters
Last post by minyves - September 21, 2023, 05:09:33 PM
I'm looking for a setting I think I had already used:

Where do you set the length of the shortest word that may be hyphenated by the Hyphenator?

For my taste too many words get hyphenated.
Under Document Setup or Preferences under "Hyphenator" I can only tick two boxes.

Thanks!

I had to install the languages I want to spellcheck in Scribus system wide, like here:

Was the same for Ubuntu 22.04.

QuoteI want to know the font in that image. Anyone knows?

Moderation: the quoted text is from a spam message that has been deleted.

That text is hand written.

But since it's one of the most popular hand writing on the internet, people have created a font for it:

Hi Craig

Would you mind, posting a short message with a link to the preferred platform (or workflow) for the translations and a list of incomplete language (or a link to a statistics that shows which languages need care)?

That might help people getting involved...

hi platter

it looks as you have set up your document with bleeds of 3mm and either crop marks or bleed marks.
