It may be that it's just a quirk of how your own user profile displays to you? But when I look at my own posts, they all have a "email" icon next to the "personal message" icon. When I hover over it, it shows my email address. And then if I look at my own user profile, that also lists my email address in plain text.

Looks like I'd have to find a image hosting site to share a screenshot of what things look like on my end. But if the email isn't showing up for anyone else, then it's no problem. Just a bit confusing to the user (why would I need to email myself?)

As far I can tell, users should not be able to see other users email addresses...

Do you have any evidence of that not being true?

Scribus forums / Forum settings - hide email
Last post by Lynn - January 26, 2026, 11:38:31 PM
I am sure there is a setting on this forum's user profile to not display your personal email address to everyone who opens the profile. However, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction? I could not find it under Account Details, Forum Profile or Alerts.

Announcements and Forum Rules / Re: Scribus 1.7.2 released
Last post by Lynn - January 26, 2026, 11:25:08 PM
Thank you!

This might be a stupid question, but the wiki pages for these releases all point to the issue tracker website to see the changelog. In this case, the wiki points to https://bugs.scribus.net/changelog_page.php?version_id=131 When I try to open these pages they always say "No Change Log information available".

Do I need to make an account to be able to see the change log, or is it getting accidentally hidden?

General Discussion / Re: TOC functionality in 1.7.x

I haven't tested it in 1.7x, but I did write a script for applying character styles to elements of a TOC this weekend for my personal use. Might be helpful if anyone else is running into the issue of wanting differently style titles/page numbers in the interim - https://github.com/notwhelmedyet/ScribusTypesetting/blob/main/NicheScripts/styleTOC.py.

Out of curiosity, I downloaded the appimage for 1.7.2 and I see this feature was indeed added on in the development branch! All the fields that are edited for the child style have a "revert" button available to swap them back to the default parent style setting.

Separate character styles for TOC text and page numbers would make a lot of sense and avoid visual imbalance. Checking or opening a ticket sounds like the right next step if this isn't tracked yet.

General Discussion / Site without a donation button
Last post by T.Roberto - January 25, 2026, 12:14:33 PM
Hi, I'm T.Roberto, a new member of the forum. I use Fedora, so I have all the open source apps. Every now and then I donate a little (a little, but a little goes a long way). I can't easily find how to donate on the Scribus.net site. I can't find any links or buttons. I'd like to suggest adding a dedicated section or button, like GIMP, Krita, etc. do. Thanks.

I can't find a way to "reset" only one setting to the inherited one, but re-selecting what style it inherits from seems to reset everything to the inherited values.

I tried for example clearing out the field, but it went back to the previously manually set value.
