Title: Importing an Image into Scribus changes the color only in Scribus
Post by: Kaotus on November 06, 2023, 01:51:11 AM
Hey All,

I'm having an issue where when I import a photo, the color noticeably changes. I've tried deleting the image frame and re adding it in case somehow an effect was there but nothing seems to change it. Attached is a screenshot of the actual picture on the left with how it shows in my Scribus/PDF on the right. The right picture has a noticeable pinkish tone.

Here's a google drive link to the .sla, the jpg, and the screenshot comparison. I'm on Scribus Version 1.5.8 on Mac OS

I'm not seeing it. However, I'd check to see if there is any color management active on the mac. It might be the case. There doesn't seem to be any color management active in your document. I tried activating color management  in scribus, i didn't notice any difference.

Appreciate the kind words - I checked and also don't see any color management occurring in the document - though I do still see the Scribus image having a more pink tone than the left image - working on trying to use a color picker to try to identify just how big of a shift it is, and while I'm likely to substitute that picture for a different one regardless, it's definitely something I'd like to watch out for in case it happens with another picture in the doc. It hasn't happened to any other pictures, though this is the first picture I've taken in RAW and exported to Jpeg. Could that be affecting things for some reason? Even if the Jpeg itself looks as expected

Hi. Excuse my bad English.
This problem persist for me under 1.6.1 version (windows10).
I dont understand.
For corrected that, i need to rebuilt all the documents, import all image, and only after, insert the text.
If an .svg/.svgz image is upload after text insertion, the problem reborn.
Black color sRGB (#00000) (on .svg/.svgz images) become braun (#996633) (under this document)

this looks terribly similar to the ugly brownish color that is created when there is an error...

https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=16312

would you mind creating a ticket and attaching the svg (and if further asked the .sla)?

if you don't want or can't share the file(s) with the whole world, you can mark the ticket (or the note with the upload) as private and only the developers will see it.

Could there be some transparency in the top image?

All images on my document are .svg/.svgz (without background) so all have transparency background)

if transparency happens to the entire image and not just the background, you can try moving an image out from under other images and see if the color changes

@RodneyLee if you look at the name of the color, it is FromSVG#000000: so it is supposed to be black.

That brown color is a replacement color that is used by Scribus when an error happens with colors.

Good morning.
I downloaded the initial .sla on a debian based OS machine, another on manjaro.
My .sla has the same bug under theses linux.
I renamed .sla, modified text and images to import from Pixabay (thanks to the artists for sharing)!
I export in pdf. and in .png. I attach the result and all the file here :

This vector and matrix mix displays the bug:

Theses both not:

This image does not appear to show the bug:

This one displays the bug only after I have modified it:

I don't know if it will help more or not.
