Beginner Talk / Re: Long text failed to import

try 1.5.8

I'm experiencing an issue which is affecting PDF generation and font embedding.

Scribus thinks I have two fonts being used in my document which are actually nowhere to be seen or used. I have double and triple checked all the content. The fonts preview widget has the correct information, but the "Fonts" widget under "Document Setup" is incorrect.

I'm trying to use IngramSpark (please don't tell me not to use them; I've read a lot about it on the internet already), and they're giving me an error about glyphs, which I think is related to fonts and lack of embedding or some other corruption. I'm not using any special characters in my text and it's in US English.

Any suggestions? Seems like a bug to me. See attached screenshots.

Beginner Talk / Long text failed to import
« Last post by Odysseus on Today at 01:37:23 am »

I'm a new user and perhaps I don't use it perfectly

I use the latest version 1.4.8 with windows 10

I create a new doc of 1000 pages with automatic text frame in option format A4
I would like to impoirt my book of 400 pages without images and 850 with images

I can't import a doc file with images neither in PDF, Neither in odt, neither in doc

I can import text without images (only text) BUT I can't modify this texte; I can open the text editor but it's impossible to modify the text inside

I need some help

it looks like you have an issue between Qt and Wayland...

for the (likely) reasons why that happens and some workarounds : - )

that's cool!
But I can't run scripts
It's a GUI thing...
If I click on the menu toolbar, some menus open on the other screen (Script menu opens on my second display so I can't hover over it, it disappears.)
Ok, I changed my configuration to only one display. Now I can use the menu, but If I click "About Script" or "Execute Script",
Scribus crashes.

Code: [Select]
qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()

Still searching for a fix.

The workaround at this time is to rename any font and start Scribus. It starts and appears to run fine.  But after a logout, I can only start it again with the font rename.

Thanks @toyotadesigner !
This is the solution. We can´t make scribus print the guides, but we can easily draw a line, multiply it and arrange it so we achieve the same purpose.

Draw one horizontal line, set the options (length, position, line size -> thickness)
Keep the line selected or select it
Menu -> Item -> Duplicate/Transform -> Multiple Duplicate
Dialog opens
Insert number of lines you want
Insert vertical spacing (gaps)
If you want an even distribution, drag the bottom line to the margin of your page
Select all (cmd+a)
Menu -> Align and Distribute
Dialog opens
Select »Distribute« Tab
Select »Make vertical gaps between items and the top and bottom page margins equal«
