Text and Typography / Re: How to display e-mail symb...
Last post by a.l.e - Today at 09:38:31 PM
I have tried to copy paste the character from a website into a Scribus text frame, and all I got is one of those stupid squares (the ones shown when the glyph is missing...).

Before that I have had tried adding the glyph with "Insert > Glyphs" and copy pasting the code, and that broke my instance of Scribus: don't try it at home.
(I have made a bug report for that.)

Back to the character I could successfully paste.

I have then installed the font "Noto Emoji" from Google fonts (https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Emoji), restarted Scribus and there it is the "wonderful" email sign : - )

That should work also for you!

Hello,

Thanks for your response.
Yes, I know that I must use a specific font but I have searched during hours and I haven't found.

Perhaps has someone an idea ?

Well, you need to use a font that has the glyph. So the first thing is to find a font that has it.

Beginner Talk / Text Background Images?

Is it possible to create a background that auto-fits to a text area? Specifically I'm looking for something like you can find in DM notes in D&D or on the Homebrewery where it basically creates a graphical header and footer and then fills in the middle with a color to fit a block of text. Reference image below. Thank you!

Quote from: LSM on October 01, 2023, 08:20:35 AMHi, how can I get back the resize/zoom etc toolbars at the bottom, thanks. Somehow they just turned off. (Linux)
Would need to see a screen shot to truly understand what it looks like. the "it turned off" is a perplexing descriptions for something that cannot be turned off. it is most likely obscured by a panel at the bottom of your screen. (i'm thinking KDE here) were you changing any of the settings for the panel? There is an option in KDE panels for windows to go below the panel, I suspect this as the cause.

ooohh post 300, cake for everyone!! ;)

go to File/Export/Save to PDF
The preflight window should open next to report errors if any
correct errors, or click ignore
"Save as PD"F window opens, should be on the general tab, click  the color tab
Output intended for drop down, select "printer"
your ready to generate your cmyk pdf
