ok. the scribus help may be a bit outdated. but just putting a '#' in a text frame on a master page to get automatic pagination is an extremely free interpretation of it – but a possible one...

hi zenny

depending on the .pdf you may keep the vector graphics.
an imported .pdf file is a group of items. you need to ungroup them (sometimes you have to do this more than one time) to reach the desired sub-group or single item...

@utnik Thanks for the prompt reply.

I got a notion from your reply that it would be easier to create a new document from scratch than relying on the one imported from PDF.

Anyway, I appreciate if you have any idea to trace just the layouts from the imported vector image in Scribus, similar to `Trace Bitmap`in Inkscape? Just curious and have a nice day.

hi zenny

you may take the imported document as a 'reference layer'. but i think you have to rebuild the layout on top of it (and delete the 'reference layer' or at least uncheck visibility and printing...)

'page' → 'snap to items' may help a little bit.

i don't know a faster way – sorry!

Hi,

I just imported a PDF from my old designs (the original were lost) as vector image, but could not figure out to maintain the old page layout only, but not contents. Is there a way to do so?

I tried grouping the layout, but the sections that contains texts also get grouped together. I want to fill-in new contents by using the layout as a placeholder.

Thanks and Cheers,

this '#' symbol in the scribus help might be outdated. in recent versions i see a real number in the masterpage. (but the way to insert page numbers didn't change...)

Beginner Talk / Preserving italics from EPUB t...
Last post by Gy1l0om - November 29, 2024, 02:38:07 PM
Hello there !

I'm re-editing texts I have in EPUB format. I believe Scribus cannot import EPUB texts directly (is that correct?), so I thought of converting them to TXT files first. Which works decently well with a few tweaks. One problem I still have is the loss of all formatted text, mainly italics.

What would be the easiest way to keep italicized text from an EPUB file ? Can I use simple HTML tags such as <i></i> in my TXT file ? I would then search and replace whatever way the EPUB files use for indicating italic style and replace it by a simple <i> tag ?

Thanks a lot for your guidance !

Beginner Talk / # symbol not appearing on mast...
Last post by Stranger - November 29, 2024, 01:55:11 PM
Hello,

I can insert numbers on the Master page (and the numbering is visible on the normal pages).

However the # symbol is not visible on the Master page text box where I inserted the number.

I can edit the number, using the edit text box, but nothing appears on the Master page itself (the changes are correctly appearing on normal pages, with the edits).

It's not a big problem, but I'm wondering what's happening ?
