Tutorials, Tips and How-Tos / Multipage PDF Import in Scribus 1.5.7
« Last post by rodten23 on September 01, 2021, 03:08:35 am »

I'm using 1.5.7 and, when importing PDF with multiple pages, I know that just change the page number of the PDF we want to use in the content properties box. However, I'm working with 300 page PDFs, so wouldn't it be possible to automate this? That is, the PDF content follows (obey) the Scribus page where it is, already getting the correct number.

I appreciate your help and I imagine that the answer will be of great use to many people, so if it's not possible to do this yet, it's a suggestion for implementation in future versions.

Thanks developers and Scribus community for the excellent work.

You're nearly there!

The problem here is the total width of the paragraph line is less than 119 mm so the tab is to wide for that frame - try setting the tab position to 80mm OR just make the frame wider and you should see the tabs appearing.

You're on the right track ..

1. Just delete the 3x3 table - it's really not needed (or helpful!)
2. Select All (the content you already have) either with Ctrl+A or select with mouse area
3. Group the items to create one object: Ctrl+G or Item > Grouping > Group
4. Copy and Paste the Group
5. Align and Distribute (under Windows menu in Scribus), select align to Margins and align right
6. Paste Again and align to margins centre - you now have three cards in a row evenly distributed

Paste another six copes and align each using the different margin alignments.

You don't need to this but ff you want to see the layout use Page > Guides and add horizontal and vertical guides to create the grid you want (guides don't print but they are useful for alignment and visualising the layout).

Hi Rodney (and maybe also Rob)
Probably i don't understand the basic working of Scribus. Before i created visitingcards with Open Office but the lay-out was quite primitive), so i found Scribus.
I red the detailed manual of Rob but sorry for a part i couldn't understand.

My purpose is to create a visiting card 90-55 mm (i only need 50-60 cards). To lower the costs i want to cut it myself.
The idea was to create a 3x3 table (4x3 doesn't fit) on a A4, to create in the first table cell (first row, first column and so i did) a lay-out with frames etc and to copy it to the other cells. Than export to pdf > printshop (240 gr paper). Voila. But no, i couldn't copy and paste the first cell to the other cells  ::). It worked in O.O. But i realize Scribus has a totaly other concept.

So i send you the .sla and i hope you can explain me how to do it. Probably it helps me also to understand Scribus a bit more.
Kind regards Eos

Ah, yes. I thought being generic as this has been an issue for me since I remember..  But several last versions, now using 1.5.7. Can't remember the first one I noticed it with, though.

Scribus crashes always when saving to PDF and clicking "Embed all" Fonts-tab.

Is it just me or does that happen to others?

Beginner Talk / Importing PDF and exporting PDF colour changes
« Last post by hagar_uk on August 31, 2021, 12:40:32 pm »

I am newbie here, so thanks for any help. just wondering if you can help me out o a colour issue here.

I am importing a a PDF that has a lot of PDF marks in in set as CMYK
I am copying the mark creating a new document pasting it in and exporting it.
When I open up the new new document i see that something that was 50Magneta is now a mix of CMY

When I go back into scribus, I see that when I imported the PDF the colour is no Magent but something like colour from PDF#12345 so guessing it has imported the colour as RGB, is there anyway around this and to bring in the colour as CMYK?
