Layout Issues / Links to pages in document
« Last post by Ged on Today at 05:23:15 am »
I have a short paper divided into sub topics.  My first page is an index to each chapter.  So, I have created the links on the index page, however, the link always goes to the page following the one I directed it to.

I suspect this is something to do with page numbering but Im not sure how to fix it. I don't actually show page numbers and am assuming that the index page is #1.

Attached is the pdf.  Any help appreciated.
General Discussion / Re: Will page imposition ever be a built-in feature?

Imposition is difficult, I think it would just bloat Scribus to try to incorporate impositioning. And such a feature would then only be able to impose Scribus documents. It would seem a lot more useful with a separate software that can import any PDF.

As far as I understand, in almost all professional workflows the impositioning is done in the RIP. So it kind of makes more sense to not have impositioning in Scribus.

Use Scribus to design the document, export to a PDF and from that PDF do the impositioning. It's not the fault of Scribus that Okular does not have booklet printing.

I have to confess that I have not tried many other PDF Viewers than Adobe and Foxit, and they both support booklet printing. Can you give examples of other PDF viewers than Okular that do not support booklet printing?

Here is a thread giving lots of examples how to solve booklet printing under Ubuntu.
General Discussion / Re: Manage Images (v. 1.4.8)

hi whyz

most probably those doubled images and empty frames are in your layout. you need to delete them there. (just move the image on page one and see, if there is another one below…)
if you cant find them on your pages, go to 'windows' → 'outline' and select them from there. a double click on an item in the 'outline' panel will select and center the item in your main window.

General Discussion / Manage Images (v. 1.4.8)
« Last post by WHYz on October 16, 2021, 03:32:25 am »
I began using the "Manage images" under "Extras." However, there are  _image boxes_ that I'd like to delete from the manager since there actually _is_ no image (for instance: the manager shows that I have two of the same image on my page 1, when there is actually only 1, and there are boxes that mention images that aren't even on by computer or the extra flash drives I've used. I cannot figure out how to delete those spaces (boxes) however. <<I have hopefully been successful in included a screen shot to help you see the problem.>>

I really use the simple booklet impose option in InDesign when making proofs for a client, saves me time and that is an important commodity.
I agree, full blown imposition is not needed, but a quick option for proofing a book or zine I would like to see.

Yep, it's so easy in InDesign! Affinity Publisher is similarly simple. I'd like for Scribus to do something similar, an option that could be selected from the Print dialog.

most .pdf readers support basic booklet imposition. (if yours doesn't, use jpdftweak instead…)

Adobe Reader does booklet imposition. The built-in PDF reader on my Kubuntu machine (Okulus) doesn't. I don't think we can count on booklet imposition being part of the PDF reader.

Thanks for the link. jpdftweak is cool, and offers some other imposition options I don't usually see (I'm holding onto it for the pocket-fold imposition option). But I think requiring users to download additional tools to do something as basic as booklet printing is a bad user experience. Even more so since the wiki documentation around the topic is scattered and outdated.
Installation and Setup / Re: Sudden crash

By reading the last PT50 post called 1-4-8 not responding where the reported symptoms seems similar to mine (overnight crash) I applied the same remedy i.e after having uninstalled all scribus versions I also removed the ../AppData/Roaming/Scribus. Then I re-installed scribus 1.5.7 and miracle!! it worked!!

Many many thanks to PT50

I have reloaded 1.4.7 and it is OK.
None of the 1.5.x versions are working.
By copying the missing files from 1_5_0 to 1_5_1 the corresponding error messages desappear.
Are there any explanation for this behaviour?
It seems that the ICC profile is wrong
What is a correct ICC profile?

Manythanks for any help.
Beginner Talk / Re: The name of folder of photos

Thank you for your reply. I think I'm going to solve it with what you tell me. I have to show the path to scribus to capture the images from the new directory. If it doesn't solve it, I'll let you know. Thanks very much, my friend.

Are you definitely sure that the photos are in the folder? If you open the image management tool the first time, the original folder name will be displayed, so you can check if it exists.
You are correct in that I did finish it in LibreOffice first, but I am not trying to convert it to anything else.

Then why do you want to import it into Scribus?

LibreOffice can export directly to PDF.
