Scribus forums / Preview not working
Last post by acli - Today at 12:50:02 AM
Hello,

While trying to post my first question, I tried the Preview button like I normally do on other forums, but I got a message that says I did not answer the verification question correctly.  So I corrected my typing mistake and tried again. Same error. I requested another picture and, same error and the recaptcha even unchecked itself.

So I ignored the error and pressed Post, and it just got through. So the Preview button is currently broken. Someone might want to fix the Preview button. Thanks!

Beginner Talk / Is there a way to disable the ...
Last post by acli - Today at 12:46:58 AM
Hello,

I just downloaded Scribus 1.6.3 and is currently trying to familiarize myself with it. I find that when I use the text tool to create a text frame, Scribus will draw, in addition to the frame itself, a nice blue shading inside the frame. When I resize the frame, it lags a lot.

I have a slow computer and I'm suspecting if I could disable the blue shading maybe there would be less lag. Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the blue shading? Thank you very much in advance!

most people have it docked to the right side of their screen (i think it's the default starting with 1.7)
Uhm you mean F2 for properties, at least in  1.6.3. or has  this been changed in 1.7?

I think the Content Properties panel should be renamed Content, as this would match the wording in the drop down menu. Even better description would be Frame as this would align better when using either a text or image frame.

What OS (and version) are you  using?
I grabbed a random .ai file off the net and imported it. No issues.
What software did your friend use to create the logo?

more notes...

what about capturing the (shift-)tab key, while the tools are active?
  • for shapes, it would scroll through the default shapes (as presented in the shape drop downs)
  • for the zoom it would go back and forth in the recent zoom level
  • for the other tools, we can implement a behavior as soon as we find a good one.

i would try "file > import > get vector file" and see if scribus can import the pdf correctly as native shapes.

if that fails:

  • you might want to open a ticket in https://bugs.scribus.net and attach the pdf (you can mark the upload as private, then only the devs will see it).
  • try to load the pdf in an image frame.
