i guess that we need more details here...

what do you mean by "the files in scribus ... disappeared"

are the images in the document that disappeared?

Good morning.
I downloaded the initial .sla on a debian based OS machine, another on manjaro.
My .sla has the same bug under theses linux.
I renamed .sla, modified text and images to import from Pixabay (thanks to the artists for sharing)!
I export in pdf. and in .png. I attach the result and all the file here :

This vector and matrix mix displays the bug:

Theses both not:

This image does not appear to show the bug:

This one displays the bug only after I have modified it:

I don't know if it will help more or not.

Yes, those are font features and definitely depend on the font

Note that if you do experience this and you haven't moved the images, if you double click on the red frame and re-link, all of your image sizing/etc. will be retained.   The relinking feature is quite nicely done and saves you from having to start from scratch with any given image.
Also note that if you use a NAS other other networked storage device to hold your photos, and you're on a Mac, if the Mac loses touch with the device, Scribus will most likely show the red frames for those photos

Wow, I wasn't aware of that. It appears to be highly dependent on the font as to which options are available. I didn't come across any that would set the numbers like the old style. Perhaps there's a character code for the old style numbers?

Scripts and Plugins / ScribusGenerator with non-Tkin...
Last post by kmhcreative - April 12, 2024, 07:36:45 PM
I made a GUI version of ScribusGenerator that works on a Mac. It's a mod of the Python3 branch. Though I named the script "ScribusGeneratorMac.py" I tested and it also works on Windows and Linux too, because I replaced the Tkinter GUI with a series of Scribus Plugin API dialog boxes. Only tested with Scribus 1.6.1 and 1.7.0svn. I submitted a PR but if you want it now you can grab it from my GitHub repo https://github.com/kmhcreative/ScribusGenerator

I don't actually know how to code Python but I muddled my way through it, so I don't know if it's written "correctly" but it works. I got tired of using the CLI version of the script on Mac and was frustrated that I couldn't get Scribus to use Tkinter even though I have it installed and working on my Mac it can't find it to use it because I installed it through Homebrew, and even when I tried to symlink to where Scribus is looking (which is the location the Python Org installer puts it) I got version conflicts, so I gave up trying to get the Tkinter script to work and just rewrote it to use the API dialogs instead.

Layout Issues / Re: Templates for multiple pag...

Quote from: Nermander on April 11, 2024, 08:28:31 PMIf you want to create a page template to use on several pages you are probably better off using the scrapbook. Design the page layout, select all objects and Send to scrapbook. Then insert a new page (or delete everything on the page) and doubleclick the entry in the scrapbook.

I think scrapbook items also retain layers, so the template can have objects on different layers.
Thank you for the hint. I was hoping to get it more easy, but i'll try the scrapbook.
Thank's a lot

PDF Generation / Re: what is "file / print prev...

My guess is that it depends on the chosen PDF version, the drop shadow maybe uses transparency, which is not supported by the lower PDF versions.

It seems to be based on what printer you have installed on your system. Since I have only a b&w printer it generates a greyscale image in the preview. Those are the colors that  your printer can handle. Do you have color management turned on in scribus? Have you turned off the color management in the prefs, and trye the print preview again?
