Title: Issues with embedding fonts in PDF export
Post by: apastuszak on March 13, 2012, 02:12:31 PM
Hello all,

I am using the fonts League Gothic from The League of Movable Type and Liberation Sans.  When I do an export to PDF, it will not let me embed the fonts, only outline them.  All the Liberation fonts are TrueType.  League Gothic is OpenType, but they also make a TrueType font available.  Neither will embed, only outline.

Any ideas?

In newer versions of Scribus outlining fonts actually means subsetting, so it's perfectly safe to use and the resulting PDF file will be perfectly readable and searchable.

However, to embed OpenType fonts, go to File > Preferences > Fonts and in the list untick "Subset" for those fonts you want to embed (note that you might have to scroll horizontally a little bit to see "Subset" column).
