indeed, one gets easily used to what is shown.

but, i also agree that aligning to what inkscape and gimp do is probably a good idea.

admfubar, would you mind opening a ticket for this?

Hi, I'm not sure we discuss the same behavior. I'm using 1.6.4 and objects rotate counter clockwise as degrees increment. It is the same as in any CAD software I used so nothing unusual for me.
I checked it now with GIMP (2.10) and Inkscape (1.2) and it is as you describe. Apparently standards differ in different domains of software.

General Discussion / Footnotes revert to "default s...

My footnotes and the style I created for them works well (as long as I unweld them from the main text frame -  things keeps going haywire when they are welded).

However, the following day the style has reverted to some default version, every time. Is there any remedy? Thanks!

(I use 1.6.4)

General Discussion / Rotating Objects.

Was rotating and object the other day, and noticed something (finally) about object rotation. I had always felt it was difficult to use, and noticed that the rotation is indicated backwards. while the 360/0 is at the top, degrees increment counter clockwise instead of clockwise. Had anyone else noted this?

eh eh, it's indeed a bit hidden.

the new color picker is still a work in progress (and nitramr is currently proposing a further improvement)

I have been testing 1.7 for a few weeks now and just want to say thank you for the awesome work!
It is (surprisingly) stable so far, I love the UI and notice that many things work better than in older versions!

I'm using 1.6.4 (App image on Linux)

The tiny icons in the layers dock window have a tooltip when one positions mouse over them.

My workflow to get the page number over a background image:

* Run Scribus, create an empty document with a single page (I'm using single page document layout)
* [Edit -> Master Pages] - I'm editing "Normal" master page
* With "Manage Masterpages" window opened
  * click "+" button in Layers window - it adds a new layer, it is possible to rename it by doubleclicking on the layer name. It is also possible to move it up and down in layers stack by buttons with up/down arrows in the Layers window (almost next to "+")
    * with this new layer selected [Insert -> Text Frame] - create a text frame for page number
    * right click on the frame, [Content -> Edit text with Story Editor]
    * in Story Editor [Insert -> Character -> Page Number]
    * in Story Editor [File -> Update Text Frame and Exit]
    * click "End Edit" button in the left bottom corner - ends Master Page editing
* In Layers window select "Background" layer
* [Insert -> Image Frame] - create frame for image
* right click on the frame, [Content -> Get Image] - select image file to insert into frame
* click the "+" button and add another layer above Background, but under the layer with page numbers
* select the last created layer
* [Insert -> Text Frame] - create frame with main text, put text into it

When creating next page
[Page -> Insert] <Enter> and you get a new page with number in the correct layer, but without image, you need to select the Background layer, add image frame with image , then the content layer add text etc.
