Title: Embeded purchaser data
Post by: founder on February 11, 2012, 03:52:54 PM
I just thinking how to market my book, which I am just writing.

One idea is the social DRM. To embed difficult to remove purchaser data into the PDF.

I think when somebody pays by PayPal, I would like to embed this data into the PDF, he can download.

What possibilities had Scribus for this?
What other software to make this into the PDF

Scribus is not suitable for that kind of task, since there is no good way of running Scribus without the GUI.

Is there no way to work with the GUI automatic controlled?

There are a very few steps:

1.) Passwords for encryption
2.) Goto page and insert name and email address
3.) Select DPI for PDF output.

The pruchaser can select different resoultions

Scribus is not written for automation like that, Scribus is written to be interactive. There are plans to make it possible to do some tasks from the command line, but as far as I know it's just still plans.

You should look for some other tool.

well, scribus is also a DRM protected software, using a similar strategy as yours: we are making it harder to use, so that you pay us to improve it or do the work for you :-)

They provide stamping of owner on each page

Just downloaded a free pdf about strategies, where on each page is my name and email address
