Title: FAIL EXPORTING PANTONE COLORS IN PDF
Post by: irenerocher on September 15, 2022, 02:45:06 PM
Hello from Spain!
I'm having troubles exporting PANTONE colors on a pdf, it's like they are not embedded?
You know how to include them? I have to use an specifical pdf format?

Pantone colors are what is called spot colors. As I understand it each spot color has its own layer in the PDF and that layer I think usually shows as black and white. The idea is that the printer will use this layer to create a printing plate for the pantone color, but it is the ink that is used on that plate that determines the color.

The printer essentially chooses color based on the name of the layer.

If you want the PDf to simulate spot colors on screen I think you need to do that manually (but I have never worked with spot colors).

So if I go to the printshop I have to tell them which Pantone they have to use in each layer?
Thank you!

As an alternative, you can select this option:

»Convert Spot Colors To Process Colors«

However, I can't guarantee a correct color output in printing.
