My understanding is that Story Editor is designed to be used to allow me to apply styles to the text.

Should a style be applied to an empty page or is does it not matter?

There is nothing wrong with using the story editor, if you really need it.

But, generally speaking, it's better to use the in frame editing and content palette.

And if they would use the in frame editing, I think that they would not see that "No Style".

Hello Scribus Community!

Does anyone of you use 1.7.0 and happens to know where the option overprinting vs. knockout went? I wasn't able to find it in the properties window. Has the option been removed?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not the OP, but what's wrong with using story editor?

Or do you mean "Why are you using the Story Editor for assigning styles"?

When in the Story Editor, each new line begins with a "No Style" paragraph style.

What style should be applied to blank/empty pages? Should it be "No Style" or is it better to select something else like "Default Paragraph Style"?

In the Edit menu, look for Colors & Fills, in the window that opens, about midway down on the right is a drop down button, marked Scribus Basic. Click that and you should see a list of additional colors to add.Keep in mind you will merge the whole palette of colors, some are rather lengthy.

Registration is used for making registration marks when making 4 color separations so the plates line up in the printing process.

You can add and edit colors from this window as well.

  • I'm working on a solution to the bold / italic issue... but it's not as simple as you think : - )
  • There are tickets for asking a fix for that "Apply" button. I feel your pain.
  • Yes, in the normal case, bitmap images are linked into the frames.
  • Importing styled text is a big issue, yes. There is working going on to improve that.

Indeed, depending on how a person is used to work, getting into Scribus can be painful. Sorry for it.
