Layout Issues / Re: Font changes on imported p...

Hope you get it figured out!

However... I have both fonts installed, and it doesn't ask to substitute, it just DOES it. I hope they figure that out too, because having to reformat all the text in an article, when it shouldn't be necessary, is getting really frustrating.

I have a similar issue too. when reopening a document, scribus  wants to substitute another font, and prompts for what i want to sub. The actual font is in the font path(s) but it seems to ignore this. haven't figured out why yet.

I have Lib Serif installed, as well as Lib Sans. We've both been using Lib Serif in our document for quite a while. I never substitute anything else for Lib Serif. I can open one of the documents and it shows the text in Lib Serif, but when I import it into the larger document it changes to Lib Sans.

It's very frustrating because I have to reformat that article, and I shouldn't have to. All of them are laid out in Scribus.

(and of course I have it installed, or I couldn't use it at all...)

Do you have the Serif font installed? Check your font substitutions in Preferences are not auto converting them.

Layout Issues / Font changes on imported page
Last post by Meemaw - April 22, 2025, 09:40:17 PM
I am in a group that does a newsletter monthly. Two of us lay out the articles in Scribus and take turns assembling the articles into one document.

I'm having trouble with the files that my co-worker sends. When I import his files, the font changes. We have agreed on a font for layout (Liberation Serif 12), but when I import part of his, the sla file reverts to Liberation Sans 10.

It happens to me and not to him. We are both using Linux with Scribus 1.6.3. Is there a setting that I can change?

Thanks in advance,
:)

Quote from: dlc on April 18, 2025, 01:12:38 AMbut Scribus can't import the photos — the file is greyed out in the file selecting dialog. I tried using sips to clean the file metadata, but no success. Is Lightroom  embedding file metadata that Scribus doesn't support? Thank you!

If it is greyed out in the file selector, I doubt it is due to the contents of the file. I would rather suspect the file extension or the file name, or maybe file system attributes.

would you mind sharing a file that you can't import?

Beginner Talk / Cannot import TIF from Lightro...

I'm new to Scribus and trying to print some photos exported from Lightroom CC. My ultimate goal is to export the files as PDFs via Scribus for printing. I've exported 16-bit TIFFs from Lightroom CC with the following settings:
* Image type: TIF
Dimenstions: custom (long side 5.630 inches, 300 ppi)
* Color space: AdobeRGB
* Bit depth: 16 bit
* no compression
* no output sharpening

but Scribus can't import the photos — the file is greyed out in the file selecting dialog. I tried using sips to clean the file metadata, but no success. Is Lightroom  embedding file metadata that Scribus doesn't support? Thank you!

I am using Scribus v1.6.3 and I'm on macOS 15.3.2 (24D81)
