can you list the exact steps you're going through in the second case?

something like:

• create a scribus file
• make sure that the properties palette is not shown
• use scribus.saveDocAs('abc.sla') to save it
• show the properties palette

...

btw, i've tried the actions above, in the order, and the PP is there.

Windows / Cache image initialization iss...

I've been using Scribus 1.6.2 on Windows 11 for a few months without any problem.
When I launched 2 instances of Scribus almost at the same time, the program froze.
I tried to remove it using Windows Task Manager, but without success.
I rebooted Winbdows 11 and relaunched Scribus, but it froze in the image cache initalization phase.
I reinstalled Scribus but it still hangs at startup in the image cache initialization phase (even without loading any .sla file)

When we are creating a page using a Template using Python script

 scribus.saveDocAs

- the content Properties dialog does not show in the new file created.

Scribus is made to create print-ready PDF:s. If you want to convert these to raster images, you can use for example Ghostscript.

Fo sure.
But i can also export my document .sla in .png, .ico, .webp (raster images for web), or in .pdf for web (screen). And that's nice !
I don't know how to use Ghostsript.
I also can convert .pdf on raster images with gimp or krita (rigth clik open the .pdf with) and save them.

And why not, being able to export a completely flattened .pdf into raster images (one image per page) (in alternative export solution).

General Discussion / Stack overflow on loading

I am writing a book with scribus 1.6.2 which includes a lot of photos (277).  Although very slow it loads fine.  However I just bought a newer faster bigger PC. To my surprise the sla file will not load, causing it to crash towards the end of loading process.  I have increased the image cache size to 8gb and increased the pc virtual memory to an even larger number and, as I did not know any high level way to load without images I renamed the image file, so on loading it would not link to them. In both cases the crash, caused by a stack overflow continues to occur. Fortunately the older PC is still operational but I'm really keen to fix this. I am not a coder so perhaps limited in solutions that are too techy - any thoughts?

Note : for icc profil embeded with scribus, this tool always says : "Output Intents: Custom" with yellow alert
With Adobe or Affinity .pdf embed, wee see the exact icc profil version, and there no yellow warning but the green tick

There is also yellow alert
but ""Output Intents:" indicates for exemple with PDF/X-1a (from Affinity) :
"Output Intents: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2"


If the printer don't want icc profil embeded, you must export 1.6 .pdf (for exemple) (in this case Scribus dont embed icc profil). Not export with pdf/x (who export always with icc profil)

Tips for choosing .pdf (a version that provides CMYK conversion if that's what's needed):

ISO 15930-1:2001: PDF/X-1a:2001, blind exchange in CMYK + spot colors, based on PDF 1.3

Ideally, always check with the printer which .pdf version is expected, also with which .icc profile it is appropriate to prepare your document (and whether it should be integrated into the export or not)

A good tool for analizing your .pdf online (for see majors problems) :
