dunno if this will work, put the bookmarks on a separate layer and set the layer to non-printing
but I don't know if that will prevent the layer from outputting to the pdf

works on my system.. out of curiosity.. what is the font used when you open a new document?

How are you inserting this character into your document?

---- Deutsch weiter unten

Hi to all,
today I was very surprised to find that the euro symbol cannot be displayed in the current Scribus. No matter which font I use, a box is displayed, but not the character.
This applies to a whole range of tested fonts, e.g. Arial, Arial Narrow, Cheltenham, Times, and even Eurosymbol (font). All of these fonts have this character in the character set and can be displayed in Word or Corel programs, for example.

Can you try out whether it works on your computer?
Or is this a bug in Scribus?

-----------

Hallo an alle,

I have certain text frames that I'm only using for bookmarking purposes, so I set the text color to none, which makes the text invisible within Scribus. However, when I generate a PDF, all the text is visible. Am I going about this the wrong way?

If you have a somehow modern version of Scribus (the latest released 1.5.x will do), you can check if the image is included as is with Scribus itself:

  • open the Pdf created by Scribus
  • open the context menu for the image
  • in the "Image" section uncheck "Embedded"
  • save the image to disk
  • compare the images

I haven't tried it myself (and feedback is welcome...), but it should work.

In the Pdf export dialog, have you tried to set the compression method to "None"?

not sure where you are going with this, but will take a stab at it anyway..
From what I can infer from you message, your message, you dont want any compression applied at all to any images? and/or a preferance to use certain compression for some image types, when exporting to a PDF?

Hello,

is there a way to export to PDF "keeping" images as much as possible? By this I mean using DCT encoding for originally JPEG images, using the original bitstream if possible (no recompression), and LZW or Flate compression for PNG/GIF/TIFF? I can set some of this manually but ideally it should be automatic.
