I have just installed a new HP Laserjet printer: HP MFC M479dw. This was to replace a previous HP Laserjet which died.
I could print with no problems in Scribus using the previous Laserjet. This was a different model. I was printing using the PDF option in the File | Print section (can't remember)?
However when I try printing in Sribus with the new LJ: - I get a brief message saying "printing" on the LJ's panel (this is normal) - Nothing prints out. - No error messages or other issues are given by the printer. - The Log indicates that the job has been completed
I can print with other applications (e.g. LibreOffice) to the same printer queue so the printer configuration appears to be correct. E.g. LibreOffice & Scribus are printing using the PDF option in the File | Print menu options.
I can't see any obvious problems in the various Printer options.
CUPS tells me that the driver is "HP Color LaserJet Pro M479 Postscript". I have also tried printing with the Postscript options (e.g. Postscript Level 3). No luck.
I have also upgraded HPLIP to the latest version just in case. I am printing to the new printer's queue in case this is not clear.
I tried a.l.e procedure: - let's say we are working on a scribus document "main.sla" - want to add the "add.pdf" -> file open and select our pdf file "add.pdf" - within scribus a new "window" is opened now we are editing add.pdf imported in scribus - here we will save it as "add.sla" and we can also close it to go back to previous document "main.sla" - here it is possible to import pages: page - import and select "add.sla" file, we can also choose all pages or just the ones we need. - finally we can also delete "add.sla" if we don't need it anymore
Now, ok it's a better solution compared to my first attempt, in that case I had also to create new pages for pasted pdf pages. This said, also this procedure seems just a workaround to buffer a useful missed feature...
Wouldn't it a good feature to be considered for next Scribus versions? Where can it be requested?
When you export as PDF pages as images, vector elements will be degraded, maybe just a bit. Anyway in the same time you open gimp and load PDF file, I directly load PDF in a new Scribus window and drag it within the main Scribus document. I could also make my Scribus document, export to PDF and then add the other PDF file by using pdftk, for instance:
How do I adjust a Style to change "Vertical Aligment: Middle" to "Vertical Alignment: Top"?
I'm using Monthly calendar script. I want the daily date numbers to be vertically aligned to the top. I want to do that using the styles. I'm in Style Manager, I have Text Properties window open. If I highlight one text box I can see that it uses styles "par_style_Date" and "char_style_Date".
In "Text Properties" I can change one text box number to "vertical justify". But unless I am able to edit the style to vertically justify I will have to vertically justify each text box manually, one at a time. I want to avoid that.
my first reaction was: open the pdf, save it as a scribus document, import the pages in your own document.
this is how i would do it... can scribus do it?
i clicked around a bit and in the "page" menu there is an "import" menu that should do it : - )
while, being able to import multiple pages through "load vector file" sounds like a good idea, since scribus is not a tool for tweaking pdfs but a page layout software, i'm fine with the current situation (except that the scripter should be able to import pages from a vector page without any prompt being shown to the user... but that's a WIP)
Thank you. This worked Window / Content Properties / Columns and Text Distances / Vertical Alignment / Top
But how do I edit the style so that "Alignment / Top" applies to all the dates? I have Style Manager open, and Content Properties. When I changed the dates to align left that affected all dates on the calendar. That was great. Is Vertical Alignment different because it's on the Style Manager window. But Vertical Alignment is on the Text Properties window?
Also, I can't even manually select all the dates on one month on the calendar. I would have to select each date one at a time and select Align Top for each one separately.
