ok, this should be it.

no. that's the scribus file again. it should be a font file (.otf or .ttf).

the attachment shows the missing fonts.

hi ewac

the font files are never embedded in the .sla file. but if you use the menu entry 'file' → 'collect for output', you'll find a checkbox to 'include fonts'. if it is checked, a copy of every font you used in this file will be included in the collection. i need at least the font used in 'regular text gridline'.

Layout Issues / Preventing single word lines
« Last post by Ewac on December 21, 2021, 08:24:55 am »
Hello,
I've been trying to find a setting that would allow me to tell scribus not to create lines with single words. I have text that has justified alignment and hyphenation as settings. I have been going through everything manually to check that at the end of the paragraphs there isn't just one single word or even hyphenated word part and have adjusted hyphenation and line breaks manually.

Is there an automated setting for this that I am not aware of or is it just something that has to be done manually?

Layout Issues / Re: Links to pages in document

Hello Ged,
Can you share the sla file of your project? It seems like something went wrong when you created the links, but it's hard to tell without the original file

Tutorials, Tips and How-Tos / Re: Clickable TOC (table of contents)
« Last post by Ewac on December 21, 2021, 08:08:11 am »
Hello Nairo,

Not sure if you still need the info, but yes, this is possible.
You can create TOC annotations for any object you have in your file. Since your TOC is one big object (textframe) and you don't want to link the whole TOC to a certain place you need a work around. You can place an empty text frame over the words you want to be "clickable" and then make an annotation for that text frame to be a link to that chapter.

Right click on text frame -> PDF options -> is PDF annotation
Then again: Right click on text frame -> PDF options -> annotation properties
Choose type: Link, then choose the page (and position on that page if applicable) you want the link to lead to.

Now when you export the file to PDF, you can click on the chapter name in the TOC (or the invisible empty text frame over that word, to be correct), and you will automatically jump to that page with that chapter.

Not sure if there is an easier option, but this is what I did for course material and it worked perfectly

Hi there,
I'm on Linux OpenSuse and work with Scribus AppImage.
I used to create ISBN blocks with Scribus and reduce the block shape (the container) without distorting the content using the F2/Group tab/Modify button.
Since version 1.5.6, this tab has disappeared, there is only the Shape tab. But its Modify button does not allow to modify the shape of the container without deforming the content.
I guess there is a bug with it.
Best, and thx for developing that nice soft !

if it's a memory issue that will help

hi ewac

i don't work with scribus 1.5.5 any more. but in 1.5.7 and 1.5.8.svn your file (with subsetted fonts) doesn't show those 'unintended breaks'.
the setting for 'orphans and widows' doesn't work as expected. i see two paragraphs starting with a single line at the bottom of the columns. i know, there are some open bugs related to 'orphans and widows' – can't help here.
for the 'unintended breaks' i might need the font files to check again. ('file' → 'collect for output')
