Scribus version and os version would help.

Also a sample of the file will really help.

Off hand i'd say you might have a leading white space stuck in in there. Have you checked?

Layout Issues / Center (horizontal) alignment ...
Last post by DragonPub - August 31, 2023, 01:51:10 AM
Greetings. Newbie. Thank you for your patience & your expertise. I have diligently searched the internet for this problem, but every single hit I've ever found is for vertical alignment, not horizontal. I'm surprised I don't find it, but maybe it's a peculiarity of my system.

Right-click text frame.
Content Properties.
Align Text Center.

Result: "Centered" text is always offset to the right, regardless of content or length of text. Also regardless of left-facing or right-facing page. Left & Right Text Distances both zero.

Sample enclosed. Page number (doesn't matter if it's auto-generated page number or static text) is offset to the right. Page number is 1, greyish region on left marks off halfway point across text frame. Not just a WYSIWYG problem, because I pulled the screenshot from the resulting PDF. I doubt it has anything to do with the printer, but it's Epson L-555 FWIW. Font doesn't seem relevant.

Expected: the text (page number) should be centered on the half-way point of the text frame.

I could work around page numbering problem by justifying left on left-facing pages & right on right-facing pages. But trying same for headers containing book title & chapter title would look weird. They too are all off-center. Trying to shrink text frame down to contents then centering that seems kludgy and maybe error-prone, not to mention tedious.

Advice & insights appreciated.

1.4.8 was the last version of 1.4.x. For those that want to build 1.4.x, there are more fixes still in 1.4.9.svn.

Hi All

FYI I have announced the string freeze for Scribus 1.6.0 at https://forums.scribus.net/index.php/topic,4688.0.html . After these weeks we will work to move from 1.5.9.svn to 1.6.0.

thanks

Languages, Translation and Localisation / String Freeze for Scribus 1.6....
Last post by MrB - August 28, 2023, 10:01:05 PM
Hi All

I have been messing around in Transifex trying to understand how the new API works etc and finally sorted that this evening I believe.

As such, the ScribusStable project is now ready for translation for Scribus 1.5.9.svn which will become 1.6.0, the next stable release of Scribus. We'd be hoping for completion of the translations by end of weekend 24th September.

Please feel free to ask any clarifying questions and I will respond.

thanks
Craig

Oh- I didn't know you could do it that way as well. This worked perfectly, which solves my problem but still leaves me puzzled why there is no effect when I use the way I always used.

Thank you, Pat, you really helped me on!

Wishing you a fab day
Mel
