PDF Generation / I don't understand PDF buttons
Last post by MrHelpMe - May 28, 2025, 01:00:28 PM
Hey,

sorry, but I don't know how to add buttons. If I use the button "PDF push button" I can create an empty frame. With a double click unter "Options" I can edit "Text for Button Down" and "Text for Roll Over". But the button ceeps empty.

Who can I create a button that looks like a standard button?

I's using Scribus 1.6.4 under Windows 11.

General Discussion / Re: Settings Profiles

On Linux (maybe on W as well, I have no experience there) you can use git to track your config files and have a separate branch per group.

General Discussion / Settings Profiles
Last post by hibert42 - May 25, 2025, 01:44:10 PM
Hey,
maybe I am not seeing this, so tell me if, please.

What I thought would be very usefull, is profiles for Settings.
Since I can activate/deactivate Fonts, set default fonts, set colors, color managment and all that
in the settings I wondern if it would be helpfull do allow different profiles.

For Example, I am working for different groups and all of them have different needs and setups. Like the standard Font.

Now it would be nice to have a little box on startup, to choose the settings profile from.

I Know, I can create Template and have all the settings in the file.

But all of my example, groups basicly use the same Page layouts but different Colors and Different Fonts.  They all have A3, A6, Instagram, Facebookheader etc. etc.

Just throwing this idea into the room, to see what others think about it.

General Discussion / Search and Replace
Last post by marce colina - May 25, 2025, 12:19:35 AM
Hi. Starting some weeks to learn Scribus.
Im importing some text, and want to replace some references that contain numbers that repeat and go increasing. In some other text editor you just use wildcards, that represent alphabetic characters, numbers, or whatever.
There is some wildcards that helps to make easy to replace things?
Thanks!

Just convert text to curves/outlines, and then export to pdf.

Thanks, I'm not sure how that happened. I trimmed it down to just the first page and saved it as a 1.5.x-1.6.x document this time: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1j25uU3C0qdSe8kCuMq2sr-mdK7sEBYzC&usp=drive_fs

In the process of doing so, I discovered deleting the a text frame on the left side of the page corrects the layout of the text in the table on the right. I don't have any idea why those elements should affect each other, though.

Layout Issues / Re: Bleed in PDF for Amazon KD...

Thanks for the additional info.

From the guide lines of "How to address it:"
Bleed: You'll need to add a bleed area to your pages to ensure that any content that might be affected by creep stays within the printed area.
Margins: Ensure that important elements are placed within a safe margin, far enough away from the spine to avoid being obscured by creep.

It looks like there is general consideration for the issue, but not a page to page one.

Adobe Acrobat also says the fonts are embedded, so I'm leaning towards KDP being bitches.
