hi wena
take a look at the scribus wiki http://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Text_on_a_Path !
btw: scribus 1.4.0 stable is out!

Thank you utnik I managed to do it. I have attached the file, I wonder if I could now put a circle inside, and is there a way to adjust it's thickness.
This was great fun.

what about just drawing a circle inside of it?
Yes, a.l.e, that is exactly what I want to do, but how?
Can I get control the thickness and color of the line?
Can I then fill the circle with a color?
I haven't seen a color bucket in Scribus at all.
Wena
After you draw your circle, line thickness and style are controlled in the "line" tab of the PP. Color is found, not surprisingly, in the "color" tab of the PP, under "fill."

Hi I am back to this thread.
I was able to chive this process in earlier versions of Scribus but now in Scribus 1.4.1 I cant find the boxs to instruct the text to go round the circle.
The Wike has a video which only show the earlier version nether is the address of an artecal in this page of help in this matter.

Thanks Wena! It's so awesome to meet somebody who agrees with me (I seem to be in the minority a lot of the time - but it's sure an interesting position to hold! ;) )
