Title: Imported pdf with editable text
Post by: medmedin2014 on May 10, 2021, 02:19:23 AM
I read in 1.5.7 release note that editing text directly on imported pdf is possible but after trying it it doesn't work at all, is there any settings that should enabled to use this function ?

Hi medmedin2014,

File -> Open -> choose file.pdf (your file)
In the dialog there is an option to choose open text as graphic or as text. It works, but there will be text reflow and other problems if you do not have the exact font installed on your computer. I have not tried it with pdf pages without images, just text. It worked, I was able to copy/paste the type copy that I needed.

Cheers!

Thanks @mnawij I was used to 1.5.6 so I clicked fast on ok when importing pdf without noticing the added option in the dialog. I needed to modify a small part in a pdf produced by latex but it doesn't open the file with the new import option and shows message "Scribus crashes due to the following exception : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION", only vector import is working.

Do not use the import option, just use the File->Open. It could be the pdf created by Latex is a problem also. Unless I have the pdf file I cannot really help much more.

Cheers!
