Title: Text overlapping in same frame despite link with next page
Post by: theophny77 on January 13, 2019, 07:13:10 AM
Hi,

First of all, happy new year for 2019 from France !

Secondly, I would like to get some help regarding an overlapping text problem encountered in the same frame, under scribus 1.5.4
Details :
When I try to add some text to the end of a text frame, even though the current page is linked to the next one, the text systematically overlaps in the same frame, at the beginning of the frame. Any new text inserting occurs then at the top of the frame.
Furthermore, I need to activate the VerrNum key to begin any inserting in my text frame, even when the document is reopened.

Thirdly, I would like to appreciate Scribus. It is really a fantastic tool and I rarely encountered crashes on my windows 10 laptop.
I decided to move from Serif PagePlus to Scribus and I can tell you that the speed, the memory use, the easyness of any functionality (even the TOC that I use for every song title in my song book and not for a limited number of frames) are outstanding.

Thank you for your help.

This seems strange, my first guess is that you are accidentally inserting a new text frame on top of the current.

Can you describe the actions you take when trying to insert new text?

Hi Nermander,
I copy the text from a pdf selection then I paste it in my text frame.
I am going to try a copy from a simple notepad to see the difference.

How do you paste it into the frame? Do you click to place the cursor or do you double click?

You should describe every step, like "click on this, double clock on that, select this menu item" etc.

What happends if you type something on the keyboard instead of pasting?

hi jean-michel

the arrows indicate three text frames!
i recommend to grab the left frame and move it – just to see what part of the text will move with it...

Hi Nermander,
Sorry for not being accurate enough.
So after the copy from the pdf (selection + Ctrl+C), I click to put the cursor
at the end of the text frame after the following text : "Que rien ne peut le contenir ?" then I just
do a Ctrl+V in Scribus.
Then the selected text appears at the top of the current frame.

Hi utnik,
Yes they are two distinct text frames !
Texte7 (the former) and Texte8 (added after the paste).

If I add manually some text, I got the same result that the paste :
the text is added in a new frame ...

Is it related with the "action" mode ?

Thank you.

Hi,
It is better now.
I have decided to delete the page that seemed to behave strangely.
Now I add text through the text editor.
Everything is all right sofar.
Thank you.

I think you need to double-click the frame first to be able to place the cursor. (I don't have Scribus on this computer so I can't test myself).
