That dark mode is rather special in linux as i am running kvantum, kvantum renders everything as a svg and makes programs look amazing.
There is an issue with the font menu drop down that I'm hoping will be fixed with in the next version.

I can confirm this to work. Once Scribus is started with "Scribus.exe -platform windows:darkmode=2", one can also switch from light to dark and vice versa in Windows Settings and Scribus adjusts automatically without restart (Icons still must be adjusted manually in the Scribus preferences). So the easiest fix would be for now to always start Scribus with that command?

However, unfortunately, this dark mode is not the most appealing. Attached you can find screenshots with the various Themes I can pick. blank and windowsvista (I think they may be the same) have (terrible) white borders all over the place. Fusion has amongst others errors when displaying inactive menu elements. Also, all of them seem to pick black instead of Windows' darker gray for dark coloring.

The screenshot @AdmFubar posted of dark mode in Linux looks much more polished.

Hey all, I just downloaded Scribus and started with changing the theme to dark mode on Windows 11. So far only the solution of @kn0 worked for me and I simplified the starting by making a shortcut "Scribus Dark" with a file location:

"C:\Program Files\Scribus 1.6.3\Scribus.exe" -platform windows:darkmode=2

I hope it helps someone. It is still black and not nice grey, but still a progress. Thank you everyone for your input!

I downloaded the ts file from Transifex, released it into a qm and copied this resulting file into the Scribus 1.6.3 installation and PRESTO the New document dialog is in Dutch language proper.

@bubu Inkscape was a good hint. They have a good solution for the icon cluttering mentioned by @a.l.e

Update:
1. On item hover you see all toggle options (visibility + print)
2. Only changed toggle options are visible

I didn't fix the indent yet, but I agree that the panel should be as narrow as possible, especially when (in theory) and endless nesting of items is allowed and each nesting has an indent.

After several years, I'm still convinced that deselecting the current item should not make the view in the outline jump around...

Yes, if no item is selected, there is no highlight in the outliner. As long as we don't have page properties in PP panel, it makes sense like this.

hi shauno

here i disagree with admfubar. in other dtp software this may be correct. but in scribus you can't insert frames on master pages and populate them on the individual pages.
master page elements in scribus look the same on all pages wich are based on the same master page. (the exceptions are variables like page numbers.)
there are different ways to add similar frames on many pages:

• 'item' → 'duplicate/transform' → 'multiple duplicate' → 'by page'
• 'item' → 'send to' → 'scrapbook' (a double click on the scrapbook item will place it on the actual page with its original coordinates.)
• 'page' → 'copy' (if the whole page layout should be used for some following pages...)

for your panorama images it depends on the binding. if you need bleeds on the inner edge of the pages, double sided images need more attention than without inner bleeds. but it's doable in both situations.

you can put image frames where you want. Master pages are a bit of a "magic wand tool" that will apply a defined layout to a page. So if your pages can be set up the same way throughout your book you wont have to manually place everything on the page.
