Title: Scribus 1.5.3: Storyeditor doesn't allow insert characters
Post by: Andreas S on June 05, 2017, 07:23:04 PM
just been trying out the new Scribus 1.5.3 (64bit Version on Win 10). Trying to insert special characters from the menu has all characters (except page numbers and line breaks) greyed out, so I cannot insert from here Quotes, Ligatures and all other characters provided in the menu.

I think those only work if they are present in the currently used font.

I've tried several fonts which had those special characters in Scribus 1.5.2 available (OTF-Font Adobe Garamond Pro, Truetype-Font Arial. etc.). All behave the same: You cannot insert any single character from the list.

Same here. Plus unbreakable space and such are unicode codepoints without visual representation; no need for fonts to define space glyphs :)

Yes there is, because those spaces are based on the font metrics in the font.
